Passenger boardings at KCI were down 9.6 percent, totaling 514,936 during June. For the year to date, boardings at KCI totaled 2,794,141, a decrease of 0.7 percent from the same period last year.

“While down from a record 2007, the recent traffic at KCI marks the second busiest June in the last seven years,” said Director of Aviation Mark VanLoh. “With reduced flight schedules at KCI, we are expecting to report year over year traffic declines for the remainder of 2008. Though down from 2007, I expect to this year’s passenger total to come in at 2005 or 2006 levels.”

KCI air cargo tonnages, which consist of freight and mail, were down 15.3 percent in June. For the year to date, air cargo at KCI is down 6.8 percent from the same period last year. Air freight handled at KCI during the month surpassed 18 million pounds, which represents a year over year decrease of 16.4 percent. Air mail for June exceeded 1.0 million pounds, up 9.1 percent from June 2007. The all-cargo carriers reported eight daily departures for June.
