KCI Airport Passenger Traffic Down 10.1 Percent in July |
KANSAS CITY, MO., August 26, 2008 – Kansas City International Airport (KCI) recorded 983,620 passengers arriving and departing through its gates in July, which represents a decrease of 10.1 percent from July 2007. Passenger boardings at KCI were down 9.9 percent, totaling 517,307 during July. For the year to date, boardings at KCI totaled 3,311,448, a decrease of 2.2 percent from the same period last year.
The number of peak-day scheduled aircraft departures in July was 235. Service was offered to 58 nonstop markets. There was an average of 46,460 arriving and departing seats available in the market each day, down 6.0 percent from July 2007.
KCI air cargo tonnages, which consist of freight and mail, were down 6.6 percent in July. For the year to date, air cargo at KCI is down 6.8 percent from the same period last year. Air freight handled at KCI during the month surpassed 19 million pounds, which represents a year over year decrease of 7.5 percent. Air mail for July exceeded 1.0 million pounds, up 12.3 percent from July 2007. The all-cargo carriers reported seven daily departures for July.
KCI’s Ground Transportation Index in July recorded 19.3 million pounds processed at the airport. The index measures time-definite products carried by ground modes of transport.
