Kansas City International Airport to Be Home to<br>Heavy Equipment Demo Facility

The Kansas City Aviation Department today announced that it has signed a 60-year lease with KC Expo, LLC for a 200-acre tract near Kansas City International Airport. The company will construct ITEC Expo, a multipurpose mixed-use project designed for manufacturers of heavy equipment and machinery for industries including transportation, farming, construction, material handling, seaport equipment, rail transportation, mining and exploration. The agreement is contingent on a full due diligence review by KC Expo, LLC of financial and environmental issues. This review may take several months to determine if/when the project will move forward.

The development will include a 262,500 square-foot arena-style special events center, a 60,000 square-foot truck and accessory expo building, a 258,000 square-foot agriculture building, a 200,000 square-foot heavy equipment and machinery building, and separate facilities for meetings, refreshments and eateries, sales offices and public restrooms.

ITEC Expo will provide heavy equipment manufacturers with an international destination where they can exhibit and demonstrate, market and sell their products, as well as provide support for dealers, distributors and wholesalers and conduct market, consumer and competitive research. Additionally, the facility will offer educational opportunities to ensure that end-users have capable, trained and experienced operators for their type of heavy equipment.

ITEC Expo will also be open to the public, offering an opportunity for visitors to learn about all types of heavy machinery and see the equipment in action.

KC Expo, LLC is a joint venture between Las Vegas, Nev.-based Uniworld, Inc. and companies owned by William D. Foote, chairman and chief executive officer of Newport Beach, Calif.-based SWD Communities, LLC.

?The Kansas City region has a rich history as a center for commerce,? said Ken Johanning, principal of Uniworld, Inc. ?Its location at the crossroads of the transcontinental and Nafta trade corridors makes it the center of choice for warehousing, manufacturing and distribution. We are excited about the prospects for ITEC Expo in Kansas City.?

?ITEC Expo is another example of the sort of unconventional thinking that is helping us to diversify our portfolio and expand revenue opportunities beyond aviation and aerospace,? said Kansas City Aviation Department Director Mark VanLoh.
