The Kansas City Aviation Department is teaming up with the Transportation Security Administration and IdentoGo so air travelers can enroll in the TSA Pre✓™ program Monday, June 5th through Friday, June 9th at Kansas City Aviation Department offices on the Kansas City International Airport campus.
The TSA Pre✓™ program allows participating flyers to experience a more efficient airport screening process by leaving on their shoes, light jackets and belts and leaving laptops and compliant liquids in carry-on bags at special airport screening lanes. Over 180 airports have dedicated TSA Pre✓™ lanes and 30 airlines participate in the program At KCI Airport, has been rolled out at Aero Mexico, Air Canada, Allegiant, American, Delta, Frontier, Southwest and Spirit.
To participate in this event, travelers should first pre-enroll and schedule their appointment online by clicking here. The process is very quick as travelers just enter basic information and make sure to select “Kansas City, MO” as the location. Kansas City International Airport will be listed under that location. The actual in-person appointment typically takes less than 10 minutes.
Applicants need to bring documentation proving identity and citizenship status to the in-person appointment. They may visit the TSA web site for a complete list of required documents. A U.S. passport is all that is needed for ID. IdentoGo will finish the process onsite at the Aviation Department by providing fingerprints for a background check. The $85-application fee covers the first five years and can be paid by credit card, money order, company check, or certified/cashier's check. Cash and personal checks are not accepted.
After completing enrollment, successful applicants will receive a Known Traveler Number that they can enter when booking travel reservations. TSA began to open the first TSA PreCheck application centers in December 2013. More than 4 million people have enrolled nationally.
NOTE: This TSA Pre✓™ event will operate for one week from Monday, June 5 through Friday, June 9.
