KANSAS CITY, Mo., August 16, 2006 - The Kansas City Aviation Department has announced that Dallas-based Trammell Crow Company has been hired as master developer for the KCI Business Airpark, located on the southeast corner of the airfield at Kansas City International Airport.
As master developer, Trammell Crow will seek to attract tenants on the KCI Business Airpark property, including air cargo facilities, logistics firms, distribution facilities, light manufacturing and commercial office space.
?The City of Kansas City, Missouri is committed to transforming Kansas City International Airport into a major center for manufacturing, intermodal shipping and commercial development,? said Wayne Cauthen, city manager, City of Kansas City, Missouri. ?This partnership is the next step in our plan to leverage KCI?s strategic location to attract jobs and industry to our community.?
?Trammell Crow has experience all over the world and has initiated development projects at several major airports,? adds Mark VanLoh, director of the Kansas City Aviation Department. Recent Trammell Crow development projects include airports in Dallas/Ft. Worth and Houston, Portland, Ore. and Calgary, Alberta.
To help accelerate on-airport development, the Kansas City Aviation Department has decided to extend Tiffany Springs Parkway westward from Interstate 29 along the southern boundary of the KCI property to make the KCI Business Airpark more accessible and attractive to prospective tenants.
With a centralized location, one of the nation?s largest Foreign Trade Zones and easy access to four Interstate highways, KCI presents a prime opportunity for developers, manufacturers, shippers and freight forwarders looking to expand their businesses.
